I received two shirt design projects recently. After consultation with Mr. Excellent Client*, I thought to myself that the project was fairly simple --a day would be more than enough since both designs required mostly typography. But he preferred .ai over .psd since the designs would be for printing. And you know, for me, as a novice freelancer, if PS was Earth, then AI is Uranus, wooohooo!
Okay, so I'm a one-and-half newb in Illustrator, . This is how much of a newb I was (and still am): I had to make weird google hits like 'how to make a text in a curve'. I must say that the people of web 2.0 are very kind. I was able to find simple but very helpful tutorials such as this one.
After much musings, tutorials and questioning-of-brain-cell-
*Mr. Excellent Client was pretty cool I must say. Finally! I got one decent client. He knows what he wants and he can pay. LOL.
