Last Sunday, June 3, 2012 I was privileged to catch sensei online. Mwahaha. So there happened an impromptu lesson which was (supposed to be) scheduled on a different day. We covered quite a lot. Here are my notes.
Right now, I'm practicing kana so there aren't too many romaji here. Gakusei is the word for student, sensei for teacher and yasahi for kind. The kana on the right are sentences: Watashi wa gakusei desu (I am a student); Anata wa sensei desu (You are a teacher); and Anata wa watashi no yasashii sensei desu (You are my kind teacher). LOL. Though I am not very sure with this sentence. Here are my other notes.
Suki is the word for like; and daisuki for really like. Doushite is the word for why. Neru is the word for sleep. Anata wa doushite no nette imasen ka (Why are you not yet asleep?) --Oops too many misspelled kanas!
Kore, sore and are. are words used to indicate proximity. Kore is used when the subject is near the speaker. Sore is used when the subject is near the object. Are is used when the subject is away from the speaker and the object.
And this part of the lesson was sugoi! Wa, no, and ni -these are called particles. *Yay for sensei!* Wa is the subject marker; no is the posession marker; and ni is used when you have a goal. Here are the examples:
Watashi wa... watashi or I is the subject
Watashi no hon desu. or This is my book. (Hon is book.)
Watashi ni neru desu or I will sleep. *but sensei said that there is no future tense in nihonggo.
Kana on the left side: Kekkou desu ka (is it fine/good?); ii desu ka (is it okay?); gochisousama deshita (thank you for the meal). I really like the long 'i' in Ii desu ka. ^___^
We were about to end the lesson and I wanted to say "Thank you sensei, I enjoyed your lesson". Sensei taught me this: Tanoshi means fun/enjoyable. Nihonggo no benkyo wa tanoshiikatta desu or Studying Japanese was fun. On the other hand, i'm particularly doubtful of my kana spellings! especially with how i spelt the following: tanoshiikatta and wakatta:
More snapshots from my notebook:
And finally sensei said Owarimasho or Let us finish. Oyasumi nasai! ~^0^
